PenelopeRED in Canberra

For the past two years, every 6 months I bring the PenelopeRED collection to Canberra. It’s a perfect opportunity for me to travel for work, do something really different, have a bit of a girls weekend away, and I get to showcase my designs to some great customers whom otherwise would probably never see it in real life (as they don’t live in Sydney). I feel it’s a win-win for all!

Each customer gets to try on as many designs as they like and I give styling advice and figure out what are the best styles for each person. I professionally fit the designs that they want to order, and they can even talk about customizing or changing the fabrication. Each customer gets something unique.

I love visiting Canberra. I feel it is such a pretty city, although a bit quiet, but I guess being a country girl at heart, a city that has all the amenities of a city, but has a more quiet atmosphere, is exactly the sort of thing I like! I love the museums and galleries and there is always something special on. As soon as we had some free time we visited the National Gallery of Australia, and checked out the current exhibitions there. It’s a very big gallery so you could definitely spend a whole day there if you had time.

A few favorite places we discovered this time around in Canberra… The Howling Moon restaurant and bar on top of the Rex Hotel. Lovely views outside, very funky and obviously popular place (luckily we only had a party of two, as it was packed when we arrived), and the food is fabulous. The chicken schnitzel is very juicy and thick, and the lamb shoulder parpadelle is yum!!! Also, if you can fit them in, try the donuts 😉

We also really enjoyed Lazy Su, a modern Korean restaurant on Lonsdale Street. The vegetable stir fry with noodles was my favorite, and the fried chicken was really good too! Noisy and busy place, but who wants to sit in an empty and boring place anyway?! 🤷‍♀️ In fact, Lonsdale Street is such a buzzing place to find so many restaurants, bars and cafes, and I will no doubt be going back there on my next visit.

I plan to visit Canberra again, to show my Autumn/Winter collection for 2020. (I can’t believe I am already talking about A/W 2020! 🤦‍♀️) I will probably be visiting around early April 2020, so if you would like to be a part of the showcase please Follow me on social or email me- details are on my contact page, or use the button below.
